UX Writer Jobs: Amex, Uber & Spotify

UX Writer Jobs: Amex, Uber & Spotify
By Gordon Macrae • Issue #39 • View online

I’m keeping things short and sweet this week. Although we don’t celebrate July 4th in the UK I used it as an excuse to take a long weekend holiday. So I’m typing this out on a train. If the images are weirdly sized it’s because my fingers aren’t dextrous enough to cope with intermittent 4G.
On with the show.
User Interviews have published a UX Research Tools Map that I’d encourage you to check out. Shout out to Carrie Boyd for the recommendation.
I finally got round to reading Paul Ford’s latest piece in Wired. As always, it’s worth the time. I’ve mentioned before that we’re living in a golden age for writing about technology and Ford is consistently one of the most enlightened, humble and interesting writers out there.
Fun fact: he wrote a very prescient novel that called out hipster archetypes in 2005. Back then, you could go to a cafe, a coffee cost £2 and the room wasn’t lit with industrial lighting. It was a simpler time.
Finally, here’s Owen Williams on why UX writing isn’t a fad.

American Express are still looking for a (Freelance) UX Writer. It is a contractor (temp-to-perm) role and requires you to have 2+ years of experience. The role focuses primarily on writing content for the mobile app. Send resumes to Janet Choi (janet.choi@aexp.com).
Uber are after a Senior UX Writer in Amsterdam. Roy West has an illuminating piece up on LinkedIn about the role. It’s always a good sign when a company invests time to describe the role outside of a standard job description. I’m tempted but if I lived in Amsterdam I’d bankrupt myself at the Johan Cruyff store.
This job listing for a UX Writer requires fluency in Portuguese and claims to be a remote role. Check it out to verify if that claim is true.
Adobe want a UX Writer for their Creative Cloud product. The role is based in San Francisco.
Spotify are looking for a Senior UX Writer in New York.
Back next week with a full-fat issue!
